Novelist, essayist and screenwriter Larry McMurtry died this week in Archer City, Texas. The author died at 84 years of age. He wrote over 15 novels and numerous screenplays. Among his most famous works were the novel Lonesome Dove and the screenplay for the Last Picture Show. Mr. McMurtry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Austin American-Statesman Newspaper carried Mr. McMurtry's obituary/tribute on pages 1 & 3 of its March 28, 2021 edition. It's front page headline reads, "Larry McMurtry 1936-2021. Texas literary giant was famed for Lonesome Dove." On page 3 of the Austin Statesman the article/obituary continues and are 2 photographs of Mr. McMurtry.One photo is of President Obama awarding the 2014 National Humanities Medal to Mr. McMurtry. And the second one is of Larry McMurtry in front of bookcases full of books.The complete newspaper along with a 2002 First Pocket Star Books 2002 paperback edition of Larry McMurtry's novel Boone's Luck will be sent to the buyer.
