Description
Beautiful pair of Italian mid 20th century urns. These handsome urns are made by R. Capodimonte of Italy and feature Bacchanalia scenes (the Greeks celebrating Bacchus, the God of wine). Boys with jugs full of wine, women scantily clad and frolicking, all done in high-relief (raised surface on the figures). These stunning urns have lids adorned with a mighty lion with his front paws atop a wine urn. Beautifully hand painted, with accents of 22K gold banding along the rims of the urn and lids and along the bottoms. A very lovely addition to your home decor, and perfect for the mantel.In excellent condition; no chips or cracks to the porcelain and no missing paint or gold. There is light to moderate crazing (see last photo for reference to the moderate, and see all other photos for reference to the light). These beautiful urns measure aprox. 15" tall (with the lids) and are 6" wide and 4.5" square (at the bases) and weigh about 4.5 pounds each.
